Homeopathy Tips for 3/02/10 Diet and Exercise

It is not often I recommend more than a single homeopathic remedy to a client. Those clients who are in relatively good health sometimes ask what more they can do to take care of themselves. Vitamins and supplements can be helpful but require a certain expertise in using them correctly. I find that the need for vitamins diminishes when good dietย  and exercise are adopted. Of all of the recommendations though, these two are the most difficult for people to follow because it involves a lifestyle change, not just the taking of another pill.

Hahnemann recognized that our lifestyle is integral to our general health. He also recommended that we remove all foods that could have a medicinal effect. He referred to this in Aphorism 260. In Aphorism 261 he addressed the issue directly, “The most appropriate regimen during the employment of medicine in chronic diseases consists in the removal of such obstacles to recovery, and in supplying where necessary the reverse: innocent moral and intellectual recreation, active exercise in open air in almost all kinds of weather (daily walks, slight manual labor), suitable,nutritious, unmedicinal food and drink, etc.”

As we all know diet plays a great part in the maintenance or destruction of our health. Many times obesity and weight loss become the driving reasons for diet and exercise. I have found that as with homeopathy any program of diet or exercise needs to be for the person. No one size fits all.

In terms of the food we eat and what works best I recommend that my clients take a test available on http://www.mercola.com to determine their nutritional type. Dr. Joseph Mercola has created a well balanced yet simple way to determine how our food preferences can determine our basic nutritional type. http://products.mercola.com/nutritional-typing/?aid=CD94 This makes it easier for someone to adopt a new diet into their lifestyle and increasing their health at the same time. He recommends eating good quality and organic food if possible.

He has found that people fall into three nutritional types; Protein, Carbohydrate, or Mixed Type. By determining your nutritional type he has made dietary recommendations that are easy to incorporate. I have found that most people who eat a diet that is simple to follow and easy to prepare do extremely well with this approach.

Needless to say that sugar, refined grains, and other processed foods, especially those with many chemicals added are to be avoided. If we eat fresh fruits and vegetables, farm raised meats that have a natural diet, fish that are line caught, poultry that are raised naturally we will benefit with increased vigor and health. It is not enough to include all of these without decreasing the processed foods though. We can not make a change in one part of our diet without removing the detrimental foods as well.

Along with a simple dietary life change I recommend an exercise program to increase our physical health and stamina. There are as many ways to exercise as there are diets to loose weight. Those programs that include outside fresh air are most enjoyable. Walking or any other sport can be good for anyone but for those leading a more sedentary life, any body movement will be sufficient. We must take care to not jump in too fast as it takes time to build up our muscle and endurance. I also recommend a program of light resistance training. Lifting light weights to keep our muscles in tone is good if we do not have a profession that keeps us active. Yoga, Tai Chi and other body movement activities are very recommended.

Dr Al Sears has developed a program for resistance training that activates aerobic as well as anaerobic exercise. I have used this method for years now and find that it gives the most benefit for the least amount of time invested. His program is called PACE. As with all changes in life, some do not come easy. That is why I recommend programs that are easy to follow without a huge commitment of time or money. Most people do NOT want to change. I find that making elaborate recommendations just do not work. But to help a person incorporate a few simple change works much better. As a person responds in a beneficial way they will naturally want to continue to evolve.

So when anyone asks me what more I recommend for them, these are the two things that will benefit them the most, diet and exercise. They are usually not expensive and can be easily incorporated into any lifestyle.ย  Recommending anything other than a simple change in these areas usually does not work.

      Please follow the following and you will get rid of the piles problem within a few days:-

      1. Nux Vomika 200 one doze to be taken during night,while going to bed and to be repeated weekly.
      2. Sulphar 200k one doze in the morning-to be repeated weekly.

      3. Include some salad in the diet i.e. Cucumber to ensure normal evacuation.

      Homeopathy medicine can cure any disease if taken properly. We claim to take only one dose and then after few days report to doctor, he can better guide you. Taking medicines continuously will not cure any thing. There may be some incidents where cure has taken place.

      What I have understood, please take medicine under the guidance or supervision of doctor, any disease can be cured.The medicine can be give on simillimum (individual) or disease simillimum, which only doctor can understand

    Your newsletter about diet and exercise is the firt I have read so far, since I just subribed a day ago.

    I made the experience that many people do think, that their diet is quite good (since there was some salad on the burger they had for lunch) and they drank a sugerfree pop ๐Ÿ˜‰
    I guess there is still a hugh lack of education, when it comes to high quality and “real” food, which provides us the nutrients we need on a daily basis, to assure that our whole body incl. our brain can do its work, which we expect that our body performs without saying!
    So I have a little “rule” for myself when it comes to additional exercise (in the meanwhile our entire family is used to it ;-): We never use esculaters or elevators! ๐Ÿ™‚ This sounds like nothing spectacular, but it makes a different – especially in your mind ๐Ÿ˜‰ And you feel better, when you arrived earlier than the “lazy” ones and also gave your body a little additional exercise whithout big effort ๐Ÿ™‚ And when my kids look for a snack, I always prepare them a plate with some pieces of apple, bananas, oranges or whatever we have. Yes, preparing such a snack takes a little longer than opening a chocolate bar, but again it makes a difference!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Step by step ๐Ÿ˜‰

        That’s so true and the Homeopathie is a great example for that: Just a few tiny globules and (if properly selected ,-)) you will see the success pretty soon!
        Simple, but effective!
        The only downside might be, that some people can’t believe (yet), that simplicity is often more ๐Ÿ˜‰
        But “who heals is right” and the result will convince anyway. Nothing else matters! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Dear Dr Robert: Thank you for your realistic advice to incorporate diet and exercise for better health and also to avoid relapse especially after a homeopathic cure took place. Too often, patients revert to old bad eating habits and sedentary lifestyle after they were cured. But this is only setting up for future problems. In addition to diet, and exercise, I have experienced better health by forgiving others, meditation, use of herbs and spices and even use of some mechanical methods (such as Resperate device for high BP, magnets in sprain bands etc). I have heard but not really tried so many other alternative methods – acupuncture, aromatherapy, iridiology, colon cleansing, magnet therapy, etc. One hears about them but often homeopathy alone takes a lifetime to learn that there is not much time left for anything else. But diet and exercise can be easily undertaken by most people. Thanks for your suggestions – simple yet most valuable and can be easily included in most people’s lifestyles. Thanks, Philip

      Please follow the following guidelines for solving hour stomach problem:-

      1. Take one doze of Nux Vomica 200 at bed time and repeat after a week.

      2. Take Merc. Sol-30 -thrice daily during the intervening period of repeating Nux Vomica.

      This will solve your all problems.

    I think this is again a very important subject.Ideal exercise is that where we use our large muscles, say thighs,legs and arms.One of good exercise is brisk walk,4 miles daily, 5 days a week.Each mile should take 15 minutes and no slow exercise.If there is time limitation, then stationary running be started.70 steps per minute.Tow of feet be 10 inches above the ground.Start may be for 2 and half minutes in the beginning.5 days a week.Before starting doctors permission is necessary.May there be not heart or oher serious problem.Morning exercise is very encouraging.Exercise should be done empty stomac,A glass of juice is very nourishing after exercise.there are many other exercises.

    This is in kind reply to Dr HC Malaker asking about health tips.
    Homeopathic single remedy similimmum should be given to correct the individual tendency to High BP, diabetes etc in addition to proper diet, exercise, occupation, meditation, hobbies & belief in a healing power.
    As an addition to Homeopathic treatment, I have found the following useful, but this just my own experience. Readers MUST consult with their doctor before using anything suggested below. Self medication is not being suggested here at all.

    Blood Sugar reducer/Balancer:
    Cinnamon powder – 1/4 teaspoon once a day
    Chromium from daily foods
    Whole Oats (after cooking 1 cup size per day)
    Steamed okra or cooked okra
    Mustard seeds (1/4 teaspoon a day)
    Sleep – at least 7-8 hours during week Improves blood sugar
    Exercise & Low glycemic diet & reduce white carbohydrate

    Cholesterol reducer:
    Gugulipid or Policosanol capsules
    Berries every day (to increase HDL or good cholesterol
    An apple & banana every day also helps lower the bad LDL cholesterol (fibre & pectin).
    Plant sterols and boiled or baked or steamed beans
    Niacin – increases HDL
    Any good quality fish oil or baked fish 3 times a week
    Powdered Flaxseed 1/2 teaspoon per day
    Red Burgundy Wine (1 cup per day for men, to increase HDL)
    Almonds & Walnuts, combined 1 tablespoon a day (increases HDL or good cholesterol)
    Cilantro or Sage leaf powder

    Blood pressure reducer:
    Dark Cocoa powder (increases nitric oxide and expands blood vessels)
    Pomegranate or any berry juice (to reduce arterial plaque build up) Green tea (without milk as milk destroys the beneficial catechins).
    Passiflora tea & Hibiscus tea
    Celery stalk, 1 per day, natural diueritic (cooked or raw)
    COQ-10 30mg tablets once a day
    Parsley leaf powder 1/2 tsp per day
    3 – 4 glasses of water a day to flush out excess sodium
    Sleep, Yoga and Meditation

    Alzheimer’s prevention:
    Curry powder, turmeric, lower bp, controlled diabetes, social meetings, dong routine tasks in different way every day, memory recall exercise (place 10 objects in room, look at them for 1 minute, close eyes and recall/recite them from memory) etc. Alzheimer’s has been called Diabetes Type 3 by some doctors, so must control blood sugar.
    Use Mediterranean diet or DASH diet or Low-cal diet(search on web)

    Above are only helpers to Homeopathy. Homeopathic classical treatment is very crucial and must be used. There have been some clinical trials of good effect of homeopathic remedies used in an allopathic way (Chelidonium for cholesterol, Rauwolfia & Craetagus for Heart/BP) but that is against my classical homeopathic beliefs.

    Thanks for the tips and comments on that. the news letter gives us close contact who are in the profession and who are in suffering problems. Most of the remedy suggested from the experiences but should be on the total Symtoms observed. However for total cure the idea given may be very helpful.
